It can be soft and humid or sharp and hot. In JUUP stoves, the steam character is born from how water, stones and heat meet.

In the dual stone chamber structure of Iivari and Gösta, the inner stone bowl sits directly above the firebox and is separated from the surrounding stone mass. The compartments heat up differently, so the steam they create is distinct.
The stones at the base of the stone bowl become significantly hotter than the surface stones. When water is poured into the bowl, it travels to the hottest stone layer and vaporizes there. The steam rises through cooler surface stones and cools slightly, yielding softer, rich steam.
When water is cast onto the outer stone mass, it vaporizes closer to the surface and the steam feels hotter and crisper. You can use the compartments separately or combine them to your exact liking.

Warm air and steam naturally layer upwards in a sauna. This is the foundation of the sauna bench rule: the foot bench is recommended to be placed at or above the upper edge of the stove stones, ensuring feet stay within the warm air and steam zone.
JUUP stoves circulate the sauna room air efficiently. The stove draws cooler air from floor level into its base and between the core and outer casing. The air heats as it travels through the stove and flows strongly back into the room from the top.
Continuous natural convection transfers the heat generated by the fire quickly into the room, mixing the air and reducing thermal stratification. The sauna heats up quickly and evenly, extending pleasant warmth down to foot level.
With the lower Iivari, standard bench dimensions often satisfy the bench rule naturally. Original and Gösta are notably taller, placing the foot bench below the stone surface. Thanks to their strong airflow, feet do not stay cold, and benches do not need to be raised.
Good sauna design remains important. Benches should be positioned sufficiently high so the bather sits where heat and steam are at their finest – close to the ceiling.

Kaski is the streamlined steel-cased structure of the JUUP collection. The solid steel casing guides the heat from the fire chamber directly and tightly to the internal stone bowl and flue, keeping the exterior minimalist.
The range’s lightest external stone mass (approx. 50 kg in Iivari and Gösta) allows the stove to heat up exceptionally quickly and react sensitively to the intensity of the fire.
The steam is lively, robust and crisp. In Kaski, the inner stone bowl provides soft, humid steam, while water thrown onto the outer stone surface produces a quicker, immediate wave of heat. Optimal bathing temperature is approx. 70–80 °C.

PUNOS STRUCTURE · IIVARI & GÖSTABalanced and versatile. The union of steel and mesh.
Punos combines a clean steel lower base with an airy upper stone mesh. It is the most versatile option in the JUUP range, uniting rapid heat transfer with the softness of an open stone surface.
The upper stone mesh raises the stone volume to a balanced level (approx. 75 kg in Iivari and Gösta). The generous stone surface gives full freedom to vary the steam character by pouring water into the basin or onto the mesh stones.
In Punos, the orientation of the upper mesh and firebox hatch can be freely adjusted during installation before stone placement, allowing ideal adaptation to the sauna room layout. Optimal bathing temperature is approx. 70–80 °C.

HAVU STRUCTURE · IIVARI & GÖSTALarge stone mass. Gentle and long-lasting heat.
Havu is the fullest mesh structure in the JUUP stove line. The open mesh casing wraps the stove from floor to top, housing an impressive stone volume: approx. 130 kg in Iivari and approx. 200 kg in Gösta.
Despite the substantial stone mass, the internal dual stone chamber structure and the stone basin directly over the firebox awaken the stove quickly for soft steam already with the first load of wood.
Enjoy sauna without waiting for hours. The inner stone bowl delivers soft, rich steam from the very first ladle while the massive outer perimeter stores gentle, deep and lasting heat for long sauna evenings. Optimal bathing temperature is approx. 60–70 °C.
